One-Step Sparring
Self-defense is a vital part of Taekwondo training. These techniques require proper timing and accurate execution to be effective.
White Belt Techniques
Attacker executes a choke hold. Step in with your right foot and perform a Double Knife Hand Attack to the ribs.
Attacker grabs defender's left wrist with the right hand. Step in with your right foot, execute a Right Punch to the upper arm, then a Back Knuckle Strike to the side of the face.
Attacker performs a right-hand cross grab to your right wrist. Open your right hand and circle inward to break the grip. Step in with your left foot, grab above the attacker’s elbow with your left hand, and push down.
Yellow Belt Techniques
Block with your left hand inside-to-out while stepping right into a Horse Stance. Execute a Double Middle Punch to the solar plexus.
Block left hand outside-to-in while side stepping left into a Horse Stance. Perform a Double Middle Punch to the ribs.
Step out with your left foot. Block right hand outside-to-in, grab the wrist, and perform a right-foot Roundhouse Kick to the ribs.
Camo Belt Techniques
Block with your left hand inside-to-out while stepping right into a Front Stance. Perform a Knife Hand Strike to the side of the neck.
Block with your left hand inside-to-out while stepping right into a Front Stance. Execute a Right Elbow Strike to the face.
Block with your left hand inside-to-out while stepping into a Horse Stance. Execute a Double Middle Punch followed by a right Front Snap Kick to the groin.
Green Belt Techniques
Block right hand outside-to-in while stepping left into a Horse Stance. Execute a Double Middle Punch and a right-foot Roundhouse Kick to the ribs.
Step out with your left foot and block inside-to-out. Grab the wrist with your right hand and perform a right-foot Axe Kick.
Block with your left hand inside-to-out while stepping right into a Front Stance. Perform a right Knife Hand Attack to the neck. Grab and pull in while switching to a Back Stance and strike the other side of the neck with another Knife Hand.
Purple Belt Techniques
Block left hand inside-to-out while stepping right into a Front Stance. Execute a Right Elbow Attack to the head. Grab and pull in while switching to a Back Stance and strike the other side of the neck with a Back Knuckle.
Slide left foot forward to the outside of the opponent’s foot. Block left hand inside-to-out. Perform a Tiger’s Mouth Strike to the throat, grab, sweep with the right foot behind the opponent’s foot, and finish with a Punch to the face.
Slide left foot forward. Block inside-to-out with the left hand. Execute a right Elbow Strike to the chest, then a Neck Grab with the right hand, pull the head down, and perform a Knee Attack to the chest.
Blue Belt Techniques
Step left and block inside-to-out with your right hand. Grab opponent’s right hand, circle it clockwise to 9 o’clock, lift to 11 o’clock. Step under the arm with your right foot and reverse pivot with your left into a Back Stance. While twisting the arm, perform a right Knife Hand Strike to the back of the neck.
Step forward with your left foot and block left hand outside-to-in. With the right hand, perform a Ridge Hand to the solar plexus, followed by an upper Ridge Hand to the jaw. Sweep the opponent’s right leg and finish with a Foot Stomp behind the head.
Step forward with the right foot into a Back Stance. Block inside-to-out with the left hand, perform a Pullback Elbow Strike to the ribs, grab under the opponent’s arm, and pull while circling the left foot. As the opponent falls, finish with a Punch to the face while applying wrist pressure.
Brown Belt Techniques
Execute an outside-to-in Kick with the right foot to block the arm. Without setting it down, follow with a Side Kick to the ribs.
Perform a rear inside-to-out Crescent Kick to block the hand. Then, with your left foot, execute a Roundhouse Kick to the face.
Use your front (left) leg to perform an outside-to-in Kick, blocking the arm inward. Then execute a Spinning Heel Kick with your rear (right) leg toward the opponent’s face.
